Product Safety testing and compliance with safety standards is a key pre-market requirement. Each global region, and sometimes individual countries, have defined and published safety Regulations and Standards for most product types. In Europe the Low Voltage Directive (2006/95/EC), also referred to as LVD, is the predominant safety legislation. In the USA, OSHA draft the Regulations covering use of products in the workplace.
